One of the advantages of Bansko, when comparing it to other ski resorts, is the fact that it is indeed a town and is open to welcome tourists and visitors all year round. Abundant in nightlife options, there are more than 45 pubs/taverns, 3 nightclubs and 20 restaurants. The most visited places are the Mehanas. They are usually adorned with typically Bulgarian objects like hand woven rugs and folklore artifacts and offer a very authentic setting, lively atmosphere and Bulgarian food specialties, wine and spirits.

Valevitsata Mehana

Conveniently situated within a short walk to the first station of the Gondola lift, the Valevitsata Mehana has become emblematic in Bansko. Hospitable and friendly and offering traditional Bulgarian cuisine and Bansko specialties, it also serves a wide range of wines. There are also nightly performances by the folklore ensemble Nevrokop. Among some of the specialties are: BBQ whole lamb, mixed meat dishes and clay pots, homemade yogurt and cheeses.
